We Bake Loaf 10,000. Laura gets the Gift Basket

We’ve been baking sourdough bread in our licensed, inspected home kitchen for almost two years now. As you know, our retail loaves are in numbered, dated, and signed bags. The wholesale two pounders are not numbered. They get cut up and served as Avocado Toast at Captain + Stoker in Monterey.

So even though we reached loaf number 10,000, we weren’t counting the equal number of unnumbered two pounders.

But, 10,000 is an amazing number to have reached. Especially in a home kitchen. So, when the day came, we slipped a note into the bag of our 10,000th loaf of hand-crafted Pure Bake Monterey Sourdough.

The Note

The note told the buyer that they were the winner of a gift basket from us. Laura was suspicious. What in the world is this note in the bread bag? Funny way to advertise.

She talked to her daughter asking what she thought of it. Her daughter said “You won!”.

She took a photo of the loaf as we had instructed her on the note and sent it to us right away.

We were very pleased that someone had noticed the note and had actually responded. Give us a week to put your prize together and we’ll get back to you, we said.

Cathy had a great time putting the basket together. It has everything you need, including fresh starter, to bake some sourdough bread.

When we met up with Laura, we had a very lively and interesting conversation about her work helping teachers learn a new way of teaching communication skills to children.

Thank you, Laura, for helping us celebrate our first 10,000 loaves on Pure Bake Monterey Sourdough.

If you are interested in Laura’s work, please contact us and we will forward your information to her.
